The most extraordinary jewelry hides its finest work in the smallest details. Discover how micro-level craftsmanship can transform any piece into something irreplaceable.
Book a ConsultationMicro features are the hidden hallmarks of truly fine jewelry — the milgrain edge that catches light at just the right angle, the hand-applied patina inside a shank, the pavé stones so precisely set they appear to float. These details are invisible unless you know to look, and unforgettable once you see them.
Milgrain — a row of tiny metal beads hand-applied to the edge of a setting or band — is one of the most delicate and time-intensive techniques in jewelry making. It adds extraordinary texture and a vintage character that catches light from every angle.
Applied by a specialist using a milgrain tool under 10× magnification. Each bead is approximately 0.3mm in diameter. Can be added to new commissions or existing Astridi pieces.
Micro pavé involves setting diamonds as small as 0.8mm side by side in a field of tiny prongs, creating an unbroken surface of brilliance. Invisible setting takes this further — stones are cut and placed so that no metal is visible from above, creating the illusion of a solid sheet of gems.
Requires custom cutting of each stone to a tolerance of ±0.01mm. Available on rings, bracelets, earrings, and pendants. Lead time 3–6 weeks depending on complexity.
Surface texture transforms how a piece interacts with light. Guilloche — fine engine-turned patterns — creates a shimmering, almost holographic effect on flat metal surfaces. Satin brushing creates a soft, matte elegance. Selective polish contrasts high-polish edges against brushed fields for a striking two-tone effect.
Each finish is applied by hand. Combination finishes (e.g., guilloche with hand-engraved borders) can be specified during consultation. Maintenance polishing available at our boutiques.
Some of the most meaningful jewelry details are the ones only the wearer knows about. A small diamond inside a ring shank, a tiny ruby hidden beneath a setting, a date engraved inside a locket — these secret touches transform jewelry into intimate, personal heirlooms.
Hidden elements are designed and specified during your consultation. They do not affect the structural integrity of the piece and are documented on your certificate of authenticity.
Micro features are best discussed in person — where we can show you examples at magnification and understand exactly what you're envisioning. Book a private consultation and let's explore the possibilities.
